Alliance for Democracy and Tolerance

Logo of the Alliance for Democracy and Tolerance

The aim of the Alliance, which was established in 2000 by the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Ministry of Justice, is to make the commitment of civil society to democracy and tolerance visible and to encourage and stimulate as many citizens as possible to work for our democracy. The Alliance numbers many different organisations amongst its members, from large federations through to small action groups and the smallest initiatives.

The core task of the Alliance for Democracy and Tolerance is to network and bring together the efforts of civil society to promote democracy and tolerance and prevent extremism and violence and to create a higher profile amongst the general public. The Alliance thus sees itself as a point of contact providing an impulse in civil society in various areas relating to the practical promotion of democracy and tolerance.
